World Economics Institute is a research unit, not a education unit. It studies the hot topics in the world economic affairs. Its current Director is Professor Zhu Zhongdi at the School of International Business Management. The staffs of World Economics Institute are highly fluidity, normally currently composed by members of research topics, their cost also covered by research fees. So, we can say that this institute is a “Three nothing” research unit, that is, no any payment comes from University, no fixed staffs, and no person, even the Director can be listed into any administrator ranks. But this “Three nothing ” research unit and its staffs have published more than 20 articles on and other academic journals which listed into First class B by University, and also have studied 3 National research projects and 5 Ministerial or province level projects. World Economics Institute input less and output more, is a newly designed and flexibility organization.

L'Institut d'études internationales de Montréal (IEIM) a été créé en 2002 pour appuyer, renforcer et approfondir les initiatives de recherche, de formation et de mobilisation des connaissances de centres et chaires de recherche appartenant à la Faculté de science politique et de droit de l'UQAM impliqués dans le domaine des études internationales. Depuis lors, son action s'est étendue en direction d'autres centres et chaires de recherche rattachés à la Faculté des sciences humaines et à la Faculté de communication de l'UQAM. Cette extension et cette ouverture ont eu un impact important sur sa façon d'envisager et de mettre en pratique la dimension internationale de ses activités.

Centre d'études sur l'intégration et la mondialisation (CEIM)

Le CEIM réunit des chercheurs de réputation internationale spécialistes de l'économie politique des processus d'intégration et de mondialisation. Les thèmes les plus importants développés au CEIM sont déclinés ainsi : 1) Intégration et régionalisme ; 2) Mondialisation, institutions et nouvelle diplomatie commerciale ; 3) Gouvernance de la société de l'information ; 4) Économie politique de la défense ; 5) Culture, mondialisation et société ; 6) Humaniser le commerce.

L'Observatoire de l'Asie de l'Est travaille de concert avec les autres unités du CEIM.

The Center for American Studies, Fudan University

The Center for American Studies (CAS), established in 1985, is one of the major research institutions for American studies in China. Prof. Xie Xide, the late President of Fudan University and founding director of the CAS, made unusual contributions to the establishment and development of the Center.

In December 2000, the CAS was designated by the Chinese Ministry of Education as one of the key research institutes of the Humanities and Social Sciences in China, focusing on American studies. The Ministry of Education and Fudan University have provided financial support to the CAS ever since.

The CAS has been greatly facilitated by support from the American Schools and Hospitals Abroad (ASHA) program under the U.S. Agency for International Development (AID). This support has been applied through the Fudan Foundation in Washington, D.C., which has also established a "Xie Xide Scholarship", in memory of her tremendous efforts for friendship between China and the United States.
